My husband just told me to "go fuck myself and to stop talking to him" because I don't want to give my sick 12 month old medicine that is for 8 year olds...

Most medicines for kids is also what drs say to use, just a much smaller dose, so I would do whatever a dr says. But if your husband is randomly suggesting a medicine & unknown dosage tell him that can kill the baby. And that he needs to stfu. In the mean time call the ped office and ask what you can give for whatever issue baby is having.

Sounds like my husband 🙄.  He's a jerk - do what you're comfortable with.  I've never understood people who are rude when someone is worried about something yet it costs them nothing to make that person feel better.  I am always of the belief that it's better to be safe than sorry.  If my partner is worried about a medication and I'm not, it doesn't cost me anything (but the cost of the medicine) to use a different one so they'll feel better.  That's worth it to me.

Hes overreacting. My husband often feels like I am condescending toward him when I know more about what we are doing, and especially if I don't baby him through things that he thinks he knows. 
As for the medicine, your doctor will know better than either of you. Most medicines are a no for kids under 2. Tylenol for children and infants is the exact same concentration medication, the infant bottle just comes with the syringe that has smaller measurements on it and the children's has larger measurements on the cup. We kept a syringe from our first infant bottle and used it in the children's bottle because it's cheaper per ounce of medicine. 
We agreed to use it extremely sparingly, but that was a communal parenting decision.
