Sleeping through the night?

Anyone else’s toddler having issues sleeping through the night? We moved our son (2yrs 9mths) from the crib to a bed 5 week ago and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I wasn’t expecting 2-4 wakings in the middle of the night every single night. He hasn’t woken that much since the newborn stage. We’ve tried everything I can think of and have a consistent routine for bed. He just wakes up crying and seems scared. I even turn the night light on with his hatch sound machine and that hasn’t made any difference.

This is odd but I started by only doing the toddler bed during nap times. At night I would rotate the crib so the open side was up against the wall. Now mind you I did this purely because my mama heart wasn’t ready for him to have free roam at nights as I was scared he’d get into something but I actually think it helped him be less scared of the bed and the openness once we turned it around at night as well. We only did the rotating thing for about a week until my arms got tired of moving it every night haha. Maybe a thought? We also recently hung up some pictures on the wall right by his head of our family. So if he wakes up at night he can see mommy and daddy are right there with him. Heck at one point we even gave him a flashlight in bed so that he could see more. Not sure what finally did the trick but it all worked out in the end haha

I don’t have advice, but wanted to commiserate ❤️We’re going to move my son in the next couple months to a bed and I’m dreading it. Everyone I talk to has experienced the same thing you’re describing. The only advice I’ve heard really is to keep the toddler in the bed. If he’s getting up, walking around or whatever, just keep bringing him back to the bed. And remember, this phase will pass! 5 weeks is a long time, but soon he will be sleeping solid like a big boy! Hang in there!

My son did it for a few weeks but he is back to sleeping again. We ended up putting a baby gate at his door.

My son did the same at first when we moved him from his crib to a floor bed back in October. It took about 2 months but now he doesn’t wake in the night most nights and takes a good 2-3 hour nap after lunch. He was a horrible sleeper right before we did the change.

Have you tried a bed rail? It might be just enough to keep him in the bed and feeling safe and secure like in a crib.

My son has been in his bed a month but fights naps now ahd comes running in 1-2 times a night the last week or waking at 4 am and won’t go back to bed. Hope he gets over it soon.

Normal. We have a 4, 2 and 1 year old and I’m pregnant and they all still sleep with us because kids this age need us despite what the culture says. They all wake throughout the night here and there, but if your child seems scared, it means they are in fact scared.
You also might want to rule out mold and parasites are a common culprit. I wouldn’t test through a doctor as their tests are not accurate. Test with an integrative health practitioner. Creating Balanced Health is good place to start. All kids need to be parasite cleansing regularly.

I've heard this is a common thing when you move your toddler into a toddler bed. We are still cosleeping and getting full nights for now, looking at transitioning in the next year or so to a toddler bed though.
