When does breast feeding get easier and less painful?

11 days PP. midwife says he has a good latch but my nipples are SO sore. 
He is also feeding every 1.5 hours for about 10-15 minutes before falling asleep. 🤦🏻‍♀️.

I thought my son was latching well but he had an undiagnosed tongue tie. Once that was fixed at 7 weeks it was soo much better. Now with my baby girl I’m using a nipple shield because she latched but slips off. Maybe you can consider a nipple shield till babes mouth gets a little bigger? Just a few ideas. Hang in there mama!

Make sure you or baby don't have undiagnosed thrush. I did not have a severe/visible case so no one could tell me why it was so painful. It was excruciatingly painful every time he laughed and burned while he was nursing. I would cry while feeding him. My ob and midwife and a lactation consultant dismissed me. Apparently bc I'm dark skinned they could not see the typical "red" markings and assumed I didn't have it even though my son did have white spots on his tongue. My son was over a month when his ped finally gave me meds for him and the pain went away with just him on the meds.

I’m 4 days pp and I just had a day full of crying because my nipples hurt so much. But if it hurts it means baby isn’t latched correctly. My mom came over and kind of help my breast differently and baby relatched and I finally felt so much better breastfeeding. She held the breast like a sandwich with the 4 fingers on top of the breast and thumb on the bottom. I hope that helps

It’s hard for me to remember, because it was 8 years and 5 babies ago…but I remember it being really hard for about a month or so? Then your nipples sort of develop a callous, or they aren’t as sensitive. I do remember it being petty painful, but it was definitely worth it to push through.
I used the nipple cream a lot. They also have the nipple shields. You have to make sure baby is latched right, too. It may be hard to tell at this point because your nipples are sore. But baby’s latch shouldn’t be painful. If it is, then you need to break it and re-latch. Sometimes baby just doesn’t get it right and it is pretty painful. I’m quick to break it— that may have been why I got so sore first time around, because I didn’t know.
My baby is 14 days old. First week, she’d nurse for 30-40 minutes. Now shes down to about 10-15 minutes first breast and 5 minutes on second, if I can get her interested. Sometimes she’s just asleep at that point.

The first 4-6 weeks are the worst for nipple soreness. Try undressing the baby and holding them skin to skin to extend feeding times if they are sleeping. 1.5 hours between feeds is pretty normal. Both my kids went 1-3 hours between feeds depending on the day and their growth. Are you timing feeds or feeding on demand? If you are timing feeds, maybe try feeding on demand. Every woman has a different amount of milk they store and make at each feed and every baby is different in how effectively they remove milk. It is important for supply in the beginning (first 10-12 weeks) to feed on demand if you can.
Also try some compresses for sore nipples. I buy the brand multi-mam but I am not sure it is available in the US. You can also use nipple shields for a few days to give your nipples a rest but try to switch up using them and not using them otherwise your baby can get used to them and not latch well without.

With my first, I told my pediatrician and she prescribed an All Purpose Nipple Cream for me. It worked wonders!

Thanks everyone. I sometimes feel like giving up. My supple or him eating it all isn’t great. My midwife is having me use the haaka on the other side that he is feeding and then giving him that in a bottle after his feed. She also has been pumping 2-3x a day. It’s just slot as I know you all know.

The first few weeks are always the most painful, I’ve had nipple pain the first few weeks which each kid and currently do with this one. Eventually your nipples will basically get calloused.
