Surreal! What now?!

Question

I was 4 days late on my period so decided to take a pregnancy test - it was positive and so was the second one I did! I’m so shocked and don’t even know what to do now! What do I do first; do I contact gp? When do I tell close family? What can I not eat/drink!! Too much to know!

Definitely call your doctor asap to schedule an appointment, might not be for a couple weeks though. Also if you are currently on any medications ask your doctor if they are safe to continue to take during pregnancy. Buy some prenatal vitamins and start taking those daily. Don’t drink any alcohol and limit caffeine to roughly two cups of coffee or less daily. You doctor can give you a better list of medications that are safe and unsafe in pregnancy. There are tons of books (Expecting Better, Real Food for Pregnancy), articles, podcasts (The Pregnancy Podcast), YouTube videos (I recommend Mama Dr Jones), etc  to help get you the information you need to have a safe pregnancy.

Buy some prenatal vitamins. You can call doc but most likely won’t be seen until 8-10 weeks. But def doesn’t hurt to call. You can ask them for a list of what not to eat, medicines that are safe to take, etc..
Obviously no alcohol or smoking, no ibuprofen (Tylenol only), no raw fish.
