He tried to break up with me

Like the title says he tried to break up with me. I agreed because I can sense he’s not happy but as soon as I agreed he backtracked and told me he had hope for us, but it gave me the ick, I honestly don’t even want him anymore after this. I’ve started detaching and he keeps asking me if I’m okay, I have the feeling he’s talking to another girl and weighing his options so I tried breaking up with him and he just bursted into a rant of how he wants us to work.
