The father of my child and I are having major disagreements when it comes to choosing a last name for our child. He strongly believes that our daughter should have his last name because he’s a man. I believe she should have mine because as of now I have 100% custody of her because we are not married and the father is not going to be living with us, but he did make it clear that he wants to be be 100% involved. He feels so strongly about this issue that.he told me if I give her my last name he would no longer want to pursue a relationship with me.

01/29/22 UPDATE : Thank you all for your stories and advice, my daughters father told me he will not be putting his name on the birth certificate if I choose to give her my last name which is going to make it a lot harder to get child support. I hope I am making the right decision in giving my daughter my last name. I love the father of my child and it’s going to be difficult not to give in.
