Have you ever had a much more successful sibling?

Question

I have a younger sister who I'm embarrassed to say I am very jealous of.
She married her childhood boyfriend, has 3 beautiful, very smart children, the house of her dreams. She is a stay at home Mom and gets to shop whenever and spend money like it's nothing. 
How do I not feel jealous when I know my wedding will never be as grand as hers, my house will never be as pristine, and I will never be able to travel like she does? 
I don't want to be a bitter person.

To not be a bitter person you have to water your own grass instead of focusing on the neighbors. What might look like a luscious green lawn is actually astroturf 🤷🏼‍♀️ just because her life looks perfect from your view doesnt mean that its the truth 
You have to work on being someone that you are proud of without letting the success of others diminish that. Sometimes its therapy, sometimes its prioritizing yourself and your relationship with yourself. Its a commitment.

My sister got married before me, is a successful business woman and creative person, has an amazing baby. Yet, all of her accomplishments don’t take anything away from mine.
She didn’t struggle with anxiety during her twenties and was able to work through it, and I was. I turned my life around and I now know I need to focus on my wins, instead of hers! Don’t measure yourself with other people’s wins. Focus on you! Work on you! Celebrate their wins, but make sure you remember, their wins don’t take anything away from you

I’m the more successful sibling but my brother is a not good, really awful person but he hates me. Calls me the golden child, calls my children brats. I won’t get into the things he’s done but in that sense I was the more “successful” one and I have crippling anxiety, two gorgeous children though and fantastic man but that for some reason doesn’t stop my anxiety. The grass isn’t always greener, people have secrets and I bet your sister does too!

Not jealous of him but my twin brother academically has surpassed me leaps and bounds. Calculus in 6th grade and is now skipping his masters to do his PHD at 24 years old. Top of his college in New York. 
It was hard being the C student in high school while he was straight As. We are polar opposites. He’s book smart, but socially I’m more outgoing and not an introvert. 
With time though, I have achieved a better GPA academically. So HA 😂 no kidding, I’m very happy for him and proud of him- but it was hard growing up being compared to him

My direct siblings are either equally successful or dumpster fires. My cousins are another story. One in particular is well into the six figure range as VP of something or other (her dad is even higher up in the same company). Every time I turn around they’re getting a promotion. I have more degrees, but I’m the one going door to door asking voters to support a referendum to increase my salary (public employee). It’s tough sometimes. 
But then I step back and really look at my life. Sure, my house is average, but it’s full of love and laughter. Sure, my kids wear clothes handed down through four people, but they’re independent and kind. Sure, I can’t support my husband and kids on my salary alone, but my husband is my equal partner in every way. 
Your siblings might be jealous of you without you even knowing.

You don't know that you won't have a wonderful life. Put your efforts into achieving what you'd like to achieve instead of feeling jealous of your sister. You can do whatever you put your mind up to. Hard work and dedication goes a long way 🙏

Her success is not about you. My guess is she has a positive outlook on life and isn't worried about other people achieving more than her, which helps her be successful. She's focused on her life, not someone else's. You are defeating yourself before you even get started because you are focused on what she has, rather than focusing on your own life and doing the work to get what you want. Sometimes the grass that looks so green on the other side of the fence is just astroturf. Jealousy will only hold you back and make you bitter and is that really the life you want?

Success is measured in many ways, but I have come to like the phrase “the grass is always greener… where you water it”. Rather then wish you had what someone else does, take an inventory of all of your blessings and do what you can to celebrate them and expand upon them. One step of that may be to say to yourself ‘I am glad I have family that seems to be living their best life… now, what can I do today so I feel that way about mine.’
