Quit your job to live in the country & homestead?

Hello everyone!
I’m just curious to see how many people have quit their jobs and decided to live a simpler life? My husband grew up hunting and I have been raising chickens and gardening in the city for over 10 years now. We’re burnt out from our jobs and we have some land in the middle of no where but we haven’t quite decided to take a leap yet. It’s definitely our dream to do so and we’ve been saving like crazy for the future.
If you have, what made you finally make the jump? What do you do for income? Do you regret leaving your career?

I quit my job to be a stay at home mom. Since I'm already home I am women turning our farm into a working homestead so we can be self sustainable.

I’d love to, we’re nowhere close to that being an option, my husband really enjoys his job, and land within driving distance of his work is really expensive right now. So we’re focusing on paying off our car and building our savings as much as we can, someday we’ll get there

We did this. It had been something we considered for years, and the Pandemic changed things enough that we could: for the first time everything was cancelled and we had no ties to anything, my husband’s job became remote, I put my career on hold to focus on homeschooling our teen and pre-teen kids, house prices in the CA suburbs inflated making it a great time to sell, many of our closest friends were moving, etc. 
We bought rural acreage in the Midwest and have been here over a year. It’s been a huge culture shock, and homesteading is really hard work (we expected this, but it’s been slower than we anticipated to get everything functional, and the unpredictable weather, prolific wildlife, and supply shortages on farm equipment have been additional challenges). But also: the change of pace is refreshing. I’ve had so much more peace, and the kids have also had more peace, more freedom, and an easier time developing real relationships. My health has improved: I suspect due to better air and water quality. Our marriage was great before (we’ve been together almost 20 years), but has become even more passionate with our joint mission of working the land. My husband is really in his element. It’s been the right move for us.

My husband grew up on a family run diary farm and we have slowly been growing our own food plot on land we will one day build on. Since we’re not there often, it’s simple items like apples, cherries, and blackberries. I plan to expand it once we build. Had a nice buck on the trail cam this week too that we hope to get one of these years. We still both work full time and always will. Most of the hobby farmers we know also work full time because it simply doesn’t pay.
