Why is women wanting a man with money or a solid, good income an issue for men?

hi all! i’m in a gender studies class and have to write a paper on the following question above. i recently posted this on a men’s forum on another app but definitely need some women’s thoughts on the question to help with my thesis. thanks in advance <3
to clarify: we’re just talking about an income where you don’t feel like you have to scrape to get by. an income where you can live comfortably.

I think because to a certain extent alot of women are wanting a man for their own personal selfish reasons. I see women who want “bags” “clothes” “shoes” and “lifestyles” and it really is vain. As human beings we all want to be loved unconditionally. And I think men see some women operating in vanity and wanting to receive but not give of themselves in a meaningful way.
     I will say i think a financially stable man is something every women who plans to give birth and raise kids should aspire for. Why? Because being pregnant and giving birth and nursing a child and then raising it is extremely tasking. And it even harder when under financial pressure. If u have a financially stable man to depend on… u can focus on nursing, sleepless nights, sick days, calling out of work without sinking the ship. And a financially stable man or income will allow unto live in a more stable and safe community and go to a school with better resources and opportunities. Money matters.

Are we talking about a decent income? Or an income on the higher end? I think that’s an important distinction. No man should take issue with a woman who wants a man that can sustain a decently comfortable lifestyle, nothing lavish or luxurious. If he has a problem with that, I’d honestly call it a red flag. Can’t be a gold digger if there’s no gold to dig. 🤷‍♀️

It’s a complete turn off when a man doesn’t work. Having career ambition and motivation is a must for me. It’s more about the act of doing it rather than the money made.

People just want to be loved for who they are, not what they have

It’s an issue when that’s the top priority. Nobody wants to be wanted for what they have or what they can offer, people want to be seen & understood for who they are. Truly loved. A lot of women have selfish intent regarding this matter, which is where the problem arises from. Nobody wants to feel used

Probably because it makes them feel a little used, as if all he's good for is to be the wallet, much the same as women may feel used when a man says he wants a woman who'll keep house for him, tend to the kids, and make him a sandwich when he gets home, as if she has nothing more to offer than being chief cook and bottle washer. 🤷
However, this probably isn't the best place to do research for a paper.

I think men are afraid of being dehumanized or used, and men who don't make enough to support a family or have nice things feel inferior due to social pressure already. 
Men want to be loved for who they are like most people.

Maybe because they want to be loved for who they are and not what they have? Because if the money is gone then the love is gone too. And you can't build a lasting and meaningful relationship depending on a hefty bank account. Also another thing is that women who like a  guy for his big income are very shallow.
