Would you give your baby the same name as an acquaintance if it were your favorite name before meeting that person?

The name is familiar but not popular. I only know one person with it and we're not super close, but we definitely see each other once in a while...

I actually would find it odd to avoid the name for that reason. Basically youd have to choose a name of no one you know personally....why?

Just be upfront with her. An acquaintance in my life just texted me in a cute way that they loved my name and were considering it for their daughter (it made sense in the context of the conversation). I was like cool, it’s a good name! And that was it. Obviously I know she isn’t naming her kid after me. My admin also named her daughter my name (but after a relative), and it was no big deal. Being upfront will avoid any awkwardness.

I also struggle with this! There are a couple names that we like that I feel like we can’t use. One is a friend from church (name picked out for her daughter) and another is my husband’s friend from college (name of their daughter). The friend from college I feel less bad about because we never see them but like once a year but we see our church friend weekly and I would feel weird about that I think. 
BUT all this to say, I do this to myself when I wish I wouldn’t. I think you should name your baby whatever you want, regardless of who else you know that has a baby with the same name. You never know who will be in your life in 10-20 years but your child will be! How silly would it be to stress over a name only for that person to fall out of your life if they move or something. Stick with your gut. Good luck!

Ok but if you had a name picked out for 3 years for if you had a boy you knew you would name them this because it’s the only name you and your partner agree on and you told a cousin you were very close with. Cousin then had a baby boy and named them something totally different... but then after their child was a year old they decide they don’t like the name they picked and change it to the name you had planned on naming your son?? Even though you had talked with them and told them how much you absolutely loved the name and they called it stupid and would never name their child the name. Just a question cause this happened to me...🙄😂
