IVF - Immature Eggs

Hi everyone,

I am in my first IVF cycle and just got very disappointing news. My egg retrieval was Monday and they retrieved 13 eggs, but only 3 were mature and only 1 fertilized. There were 2 more that matured overnight that they did rescue ICSI on and I just found out that 1 of those fertilized (but that chances of it becoming an embryo are lower because it matured late). I know there’s still a small chance, but I am just feeling so heartbroken and defeated.

I am 31 with unexplained infertility, 4.7 amh, had 24 follicles at my baseline appointment and I have a very regular cycle, and I just didn’t expect this outcome. I especially didn’t expect the issue to be that most of the eggs weren’t mature. I have heard of none becoming embryos, but not of this. Has anyone heard of this before? I am going to talk to my doctor tomorrow, but I am just so impatient and wanted to know if any of you have had or heard of anyone with a similar experience. Any advice is appreciated.
