Have you ever read the Bible?

I tried to read it, but it was scary, (particularly when God started torturing people), so I didn’t make it very far 
Have you actually read the entire bible?

I had to read the Bible when I was younger and write little summaries after every chapter in a notebook for my foster parents to check my progress. It’s quite interesting at the amount of contradictions or misunderstandings there are in it. I hated doing it as a kid but as an adult, I see the value in knowing what I preach instead of just reiterating what I’ve heard from a pastor or something.

It's good to remember the Bible is a library of lots of different kinds of literature written over the course of a long time (over 1000 years) and so we can't read it like we would a novel or text book. I second other people's comments in finding a good guide if you're going to dive in. The Bible Project is the best I've seen in Bible literacy. 
It's hard to understand sometimes but that's also why some people love it, as they can study it their whole life and keep finding new meaning 😊

I’ve read a good chunk of it because I went to a Christian school and we’d have to read chapters for biblical study. I was bored every time and wasn’t really processing any of the words lol
