Is hair just past your shoulders considered long?

I have really long hair.  It’s almost down to my ass.
It really looks bad.  I love my long hair tho.  I am having such bad anxiety about cutting it, but it needs to be done.  
It’s in really bad shape.  I’ve been cutting it every 8 weeks to try to repair it, but I only cut like half an inch.  I’ve been spending a ton of money on shampoos and conditioners and hair masks to repair the damage but it doesn’t do much.  I need to chop it.  Like all of it 
I’m so sad I won’t have long hair anymore.  I’m thinking of cutting it right below my shoulders.  If I go that short, would my hair still look long?

That would be medium length but those cuts look great! If your hair is damaged then chopping it off will be doing it a big favor. On the bright side, when you grow it back out again it will grow out healthy and beautiful!

My idea of long is past your bra strap. Bra strap to chin is medium chin an up is short lol.  That my definitions 😁  I love long hair too but honestly when I cut mine it looked SO much healthier and better and gave me a huge confidence boost.   I was scared but it was worth it.    If it helps take baby steps just get a few inches done at a time until it's where you feel comfortable

It would be medium length but health is so much better than length at that point but I've been there it's hard not to hold onto it sometimes ! I had hair to my hips and cut it to my upper back and got so many compliments because it finally looked healthy.
