Will I get in trouble ?

So I mention before my kids dad was in an immigration situation. And they did miss school already for 3 days. Unfortunately things didn’t go out like we thought and now I already booked a flight ✈️ for my kids and I to go with their dad. I still have to call the school and let them know about our family emergency I’m just not sure if I’ll get In trouble because they are going to miss  school for more then a week or so. I live in CA. I just don’t know and the flight it’s booked already. 😫😔 ahh I just don’t know

Get in trouble by who? Just call the school and say you have a family emergency and they won’t be in school for a week, that’s really all they need to know. Depending on how your school handles absent students, they might even have school work you can pick. So they will basically be homeschooled for that week and not fall behind.

Look into your state laws for being absent. Our school automatically reports absences once it reaches X amount of days. Once it reaches that, CPS is involved.

In California You won’t get in trouble if you call the school and report this as a family emergency/ necessity. Request homework /school work for your kids so they don’t get behind.

Just tell them “my kids will be out for a non-illness related absence. Thanks.”… that’s all they need to know for attendance. School attendance should be the last thing on your mind. They are your kids and you decide.
If it makes you feel any better, a teacher at my daughter’s school pulled her kids out for 8 days to go to Disney (I only know from Facebook), and literally nobody cares

You need to call them. I was a teacher before being a SAHM and you need to let them know there was a family emergency and they will be out for a certain amount of time but you want them to keep up on their work. They should work with you. If you don’t contact them, I’m sure someone will be showing up at your door to check on them after a certain period of time.
