Is the pain of IUD insertion worth it?

Thinking about getting one instead of taking the pill. I’ve heard that it is less painful if you have previously given birth (had my daughter 3 months ago)

I had one put in 2 months after my son was born. It felt uncomfortable at first, but the pain wasn't horrible. I don't even remember it lol. That was 12 years ago though. I do plan on getting another one after baby #5 is born.

I have a Mirena IUD. For me it was completely worth it. Considering before I got it my periods were extremely painful and heavy and I had PMDD. It corrected all of those symptoms and corrected my endometrial hyperplasia. I’m not gonna lie, it hurt like a bitch. Not nearly as much as over 30 years of painful periods though. For the first six months I was spotting and cramping. But after six months, it’s literally my best friend saving my life. I do not get a period anymore. The best part is I can keep it in as I approach menopause and it will take care of those symptoms as well.

I got mine placed yesterday and it wasnt that bad I did have have cramping but nothing like labor. I had my baby 6 weeks ago.

I personally think mines worth it. Just make sure when you go in, you tell them that you don't want the "clamp" shown below. It's used to only hold the cervix steady to make insertion easier and completely unnecessary. And if they insist on it, I suggest insisting on a powerful anesthetic. It pierces the cervix and is extremely painful.
