Bf makes no effort for my bdays

I asked My bf, we are long distance cuz of school, to come home this weekend. He goes to school 2 hrs away from home. He usually will only come a weekend or two after my bday because it lines up with his spring break.

I asked if he’d come home to hangout with me and his reply was he doesnt want to waste mileage on driving home this weekend, because he’s driving home next week anyway for a trip.

But for the past 3 years I’ve literally driven 2 hrs to his school and back just to see him for his bday/ weekend. I had never complained of gas or mileage because I care about making him happy and hanging out on his weekend.

Am I wrong to be annoyed? I put so so so much effort changing my schedule and he only does the travel if it lines up with his schedule….
