Is it normal to not hear heartbeat for the first time?

Hey, so I went in for my first ever ultrasound and everything was good I was even told the heartbeat was normal, as well as her saying congratulations. I’m about 8 weeks pregnant now as the tech said. But is it normal for me to not have heard the heartbeat?

With my last pregnancy, I went for a scan at 8 weeks and was told not to expect to be able to hear the heartbeat, just to see it. It was a nice surprise to be able to hear it for sure, but my OB told me that not everyone can hear it at 8 weeks. As long as it looks good, that’s all that matter at this stage of the game! congratulations! 💖

We didn’t hear a heartbeat at either of of our first ultrasounds. We could see it flickering but didn’t hear it until 12-14 weeks via Doppler at the office.

I heard the heartbeat at six weeks and five days. It might depend on the ultrasound tech and their skill level.

We didn't hear the baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks and 4 days. But she did tell us it was 165. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. It's still very very small.
