Hey there! Here to talk about the “went to tell” topic.

Background: I found out I was pregnant at 7 DPO and I went right away to my family doctor (in Portugal we have free healthcare and your kinda stuck with one doctor for almost everything) and he literally and directly told me: “Don’t get too excited and don’t tell anyone. We will schedule a ultrasound 4 weeks from now but be aware that there’s a lot of probability you won’t have anything by then.”

I am aware of the odds and probabilities. I do understand that most abortions happen until the 12th week but… NO DOCTOR SHOULD EVER TELL YOU “don’t tell anyone”, THAT’S YOUR CHOICE, NO ONE ELSES!

Aaaand I honestly don’t understand the whole “don’t tell anyone until 12 Weeks” because:

(1) An abortion can happen at any time, (2) you could even give birth to a still baby and (3) we should be able to ENJOY every single day and week of the pregnancy, not just 6 out of 9 months 😂😂😂

In Portugal pregnant women have priority in all types of lines, bank, supermarket, Passport making, you name it. And the law does not says you need to show a belly or anything for that matters BECAUSE THE FIRST TRIMESTER IS THE MOST DANGEROUS and normally the one where you have THE WORST SYMPTOMS (like all day nausea! You do not want to be in line for 10 minutes just to buy some food you will end up puking for just smelling it!

The law expressively says that it’s just about being pregnant, ever since weeks 4 (or when you find out)!

But my point here is, a pregnancy is 9 months, generally 40 weeks, right?

Why are we, women, told to just tell people at 12 weeks, why would we only enjoy 6 months out of 9? Why would you want to just enjoy and be specially cherished for 28 weeks instead of 40?
