Pregnancy test

My period is four days late I’m on cd33 and it usually comes in cd29. I’m debating taking a test or waiting until Thursday to give it some extra time because I’m always disappointed every month. I’ve been having pretty bad lower back pains today and I had the lightest spotting one time when I wiped today and never again after that. I’ve had a headache on and off all day but that’s about it. Should I just wait a few days to see if af shows up or just test now? I just don’t want to disappoint myself because I know if it’s negative I’m probably still going to be hopeful and then be let down if af shows :(. My periods only ever been late once before and it was only two days late so this is unusual. Idk ugh I just need advice
