Would you move an hour away or stay in your area? Looking for outside opinion.

So this a weird place to ask this type of advice but would love some more outside opinions. The housing market is INSANE. We make over 100k a year and what we can afford nothing is available in our area. Literally nothing. There are some things but they are 20k above what we can barely afford and going fast and above asking price. About an hour away from us is a city, not as nice as our area but not bad other. And the houses are going for 100k less. So if we bought there we could actually get exactly the type of house we want on a big piece of land, which sounds like a dream. BUT, even though it's only an hour away it would upturn our lives. I work from home and it was just made permanent so I can actually take my son out of daycare/preschool now if I wanted BUT I always him to go at least part time for the interaction and what they teach them. There's no way working home full time and taking care of my two year old could I teach him anything... and I know they people who run the daycare personally I couldn't trust him with people I don't know. But he is almost 3 and will be able to do pre-k at 4 years old, so maybe it wouldn't cause too much problems there. But we are also SUPER close with my family. I am with my sisters and family almost every weekend. I go to my nieces and nephews soccer games during the weekend or week too. If we moved an hour away it wouldn't be so easy to drop things and go to my sisters house. My son also loves his cousins so I'm scared I'd be robbing everyone of the close relationship we all have. Lastly, my husband races cars. Because of this my dad and his dad are all always working on the car at each other's houses. That wouldn't be easy to do after work or even possible if we lived that far away.

So what would you do? Wait to see if anything house wise will pop up (or basically buy a shack LOL) or move an hour away and buy your dream home but at the sacrifice of the close nit life with your close family and friends?
