What drug did/will your Dr use to induce you? / induction questions

Question

Anything I should know about it? Who’s induction lead to a c-section? Does my body need to be a certain “ready” to get it done? 
What did you do to help put you in labor? 
(I’ve heard it will happen when it happens)
I appreciate the comments, I want to be able to ask as many questions as possible at my next appointment.

If you don’t have medical needs to be induced, I’d avoid it, as they can often lead to c sections. If you don’t mind ending up with a major surgery go for it, but babies come when they’re ready and it is very normal for babies to go past their “due dates” you can get to 41+weeks but it’s only a guess that that’s how far along you are anyway.

Had my first naturally at 38+5, but this one I am being induced tomorrow at midnight and will be 41wk tomorrow. They are just going to use Cytotec to dilate my cervix because I am still at a 1.5 but am having contractions for the past five days that are about 2-3mins and up to 4mins apart so the doc doesn’t think I will need pitocin or oxytocin. Will let you know how it goes, we are hoping baby will be here by 8am Thursday.

My last two pregnancies I used pitocin to be induced at 40 weeks and both labors were fairly long but no c-section needed. I had only dilated to maybe a 1 before pitocin. Once I got the epidural my body relaxed and worked in my favor. In labor now with my 3rd and my body it doing it on its own this time but if I don’t dilate I’ll be getting pitocin at 4am.

I’ve been induced twice, went naturally once. No c-sections but once my body is in labor things move very quickly so I think everyone is just different! I would prefer to go naturally if at all possible! I was induced on my due date this time around because I’m 35 and the only thing they gave me was Cytotec. After that my body took over and contractions started quickly. I was only in labor a few hours so it was good but I absolutely needed the epidural because my contractions were literally back to back with zero breaks.

Went naturally with my first. Had to get induced with my second. They used the Foley bulb and sent me home for 12 hours and then called me to go back. I dialated from 2cm to 3cm with the Foley. When I got to the hospital they started oxytocin (low dose) and broke my water. 2 hours later I dialated to 8cm. I ended up with an emergency c-section not because the induction didn't work, it was going great, but because my daughter decided it would be a great idea to try to come out hand first. I kept saying I felt something weird down there and pressure so when they checked me the OB freaked, the room filled up and I was rush to have a c-section. It was crazy!

I was induced with my first a little over 2 years ago. I had gestational hypertension that pregnancy and they tried to induce at 37 weeks. My body and baby were not ready at all. They gave me cytotec and pitocin. And eventually a foley ballon in my cervix. Got me to 3cm dilated. I labored for 3 days before they decided to just send me home since my BP wasn’t scary high 🙄. I was induced again at 38 weeks for even higher blood pressures. Started on cytotec and pitocin again. Water broke naturally about 24 hours later and baby born about 4 hours later. Being induced did cause baby’s heart rate to drop here and there but I labored naturally, no pain meds. Every time they upped pitocin his heart rate dropped. Resulted in an episiotomy for me to get him out quickly in the end. Wouldn’t be induced again unless I have to be.

I was induced and had zero progress, no dilation, no effacement, induction was long, 27 hours start to finish but delivery was easy and I was able to deliver vaginally. 
They started me on Cytotec, it’s a pill that helps soften the cervix, I had four rounds of this (about 13 hours) then they put me in pitocin and remained on this until I was fully dilated and ready to push. It was a long process but it wasn’t terrible.

First pregnancy they tried cervadil but I hyperstimulated and then used pitocin/oxytocin and ultimately didn’t get past 4cm and so had a c section. This time round they used a cooks catheter to induce me and then a very low dose of pitocin with lots of movement and I got my VBAC!
