What contributes to gestational diabetes?
I know I’m at risk because of my age and I’m getting the test in 4 weeks. I’m wondering if anyone knows (other than hormonal production and age factors out of our control), is there anything else that contributes to GD? I have been eating a lot of carbs between baked goods and lots of fruit and bread. It just seems to be what I digest better since I’ve had nausea in pregnancy. I’ve never had blood sugar high in the past, but I’m worried that this sugar-heavy diet could be contributing to GD in pregnancy. I’m worried if I get GD I could have complications or need to get induced early. Does anyone know if there’s anything I can do to help improve my blood sugar levels in pregnancy? Or anything that can make them worse? Is it just diet?
