Almost 3 year old is holding pee for too long?

My toddler is potty training… doing well.. but holding pee for anywhere from 2-6 hours!! Is this normal and ok? He also hasn’t pooped since yesterday morning :( I’m worried he will make himself ill… we’ve tried potty training a few times and it always results in this. Me being worried and then giving in and putting him in a diaper again. Advice much appreciated!!!!!!

Why do you feel 2-6 hours is too long? How does the diaper help anything? 
If you feel babe isn’t peeing enough, the concern would be that babe isn’t drinking enough water… not potty training related. 
If you expect babe to go more frequently, you can give them a potty break watch to encourage trying in closer intervals. 
For my nephew, we only ask him if he has to go if he is touching his penis or we are about to go somewhere.

I mean, adults hold pee for that range of time so I don't see the issue unless holding it is causing him pain. His bladder is bigger now than when he was a baby and is likely developed some level of bladder control so not going for a few hours is totally normal. 
That being said, my daughter started holding hers for 6-8 hours, despite copious amounts of fluids. I sat her down and we had a frank discussion about how she was scared to use the potty sometimes because she didn't want to mess up and have an accident, and I explained to her how holding her pee could really hurt her vagina and give her an infection that would be painful. No judgement, just a factual explanation. It only took me mentioning that twice for her to stop holding it in and go pee more regularly.

My almost 3 year old can go 2-6 hours without peeing sometimes. And he’ll occasionally go a day here or there without pooping. Normal for him. But if you feel like it’s a big change for your kid and that potty training is really stressing both of you out then I’d pause and try again in a month or two.

Is he holding it or is he not ready to pee? If he's holding it, tell him that he'll get stuck I'd he hold his pee or have an accident and it's very important to not hold it because of this. If he's going six hours without peeing because he just doesn't need to go, you probably need to increase fluids.

Mine does the same thing. She drinks plenty, she just doesn’t have to pee that often. We have her try before we get in the car or if she’s grabbing herself. I think it’s weird cause I pee pretty often, but my husband doesn’t and she’s never complained.
She also doesn’t poop every day (never really has) and she knows when she needs to go, and she does just fine.

My toddler only pees once every 3-6 hours during the day. 
When we first potty trained she didn't poop for 3 days. We watched short videos and songs on going potty and had her drink prune/apple juice which helped her go.

My 3 year old probably goes every 2-6 hours. We don’t ask him anymore unless getting in the car. He doesn’t have accidents and isn’t in pain so we let him do his thing. Is there a reason you are concerned he’s not going more frequently?
