Would you stop breastfeeding if it could help you conceive your second ?

I’m closer to 40 than 35 and I’m worried about my clock. I can’t take any supplements to help with getting pregnant until after I stop breastfeeding. Also, the chance of getting pregnant while breastfeeding is low. I people out there have gotten pregnant while breastfeeding, but I think the odds are better for me if I was to stop. 
What would you do?

The clock....it isnt a switch. It's a fluid gradual decline, and it expedites once you show signs of perimenopause. There is no reason youd have more trouble conceiving 6-12 months from now as you did with your current baby unless you otherwise are developing health problems or showing signs of perimenopause starting. I had 2 kids after 35 and I have several friends who had kids 36-42 with no problems conceiving. So I personally wouldnt stop breastfeeding, especially if baby isnt even 1 yet, just to try to 'beat the clock'.

Call a RE or fertility specialist. Age is one factor but if you have DOR or a low AMH, you might make a different decision, so getting a personalized sense of your fertility would help. But in general, if having another child is a top priority for you, I’d do what you need to make that happen, because time is the one thing we know is not on our side

I'm still breastfeeding my 18 month old, my period returned at 3 months even though I was exclusively breastfeeding. I would order the ovulation strips. Do what feels right for you, I had her at 38 and was not going to stop breastfeeding her until she was at least 1 year, now I still am and am newly pregnant turning 40 this weekend

I’ve gotten pregnant 3 times while nursing - as long as you get your period back. It did take me around a year -14 months  for it to return but I got pregnant instantly once I did and I’m 38 with 4th now currently nursing

I did. I tried to cheat and take my meds while breastfeeding to no avail for five months. I quit on his 2nd birthday and got pregnant the next cycle.

How old is the kiddo you are breastfeeding? You can go as long as you can but 6months post partum is a sweet spot for trying again and for kiddo to get most of the antibodies/gut biome they need. 
I struggled with breastfeeding (had great supply, but LOTS of clogs and blebs and depression and kiddo was super spewy) that I was glad to stop BF. I started weaning off breastfeeding at 7months and ended by 10months. Got pregnant at 14 months but was trying since my babe was almost 6 months. But then again my sweet spot for getting pregnant seems to be 9months of trying.

I was 34 when I had my first baby and my fertility returned 20 months postpartum, while still breastfeeding. Biological term nursing was very important to me, as my first priority was to my existing son. I followed his lead, and did not push him to wean day or night. I had one missed miscarriage last year, but was pregnant again a few months later. I will be 37 when this baby is born. Just my experience :)
