Diaper party instead of baby shower?

So together my husband and I have 3 kids already. My step son is 12 daughter 6 and our son together in 16 months. We decided not to find out baby gender and Iv saved all of my sons clothes, have infant car seat saved and other gadgets and necessities. Honestly we weren’t expecting this baby so I don’t feel as excited as I did with the others. Wanted to still celebrate in some way with friends n family to bring some more excitement on. I feel like after you have a certain amount of kids friends n family aren’t as excited also. Is it normal to have a gathering for what would be out 4th baby? We didn’t have a baby shower for my 16 month old because of covid but were given gifts. I was thinking of a diaper party. Have a cute bbq and everyone brings a box of diapers and we can still have fun games. What do you ladies think? Have you had a baby shower of gathering for 3rd or 4th child?

We had a no-present, tell-me-how-cute-I-look BBQ (some people still insisted on purchasing a gift but it wasn't expected). It was still about gathering everyone to celebrate new life coming. Diaper party is cute but I wonder if you'll get 10-20 boxes of diapers, will you actually go through them all before baby moves to the next size? Will everyone purchase newborn size 😅

I’m about to have our fourth. For our second, we had a sip and see after she was born. Basically like a shower, but no registry and the baby is actually there to meet at the party. It was so fun. Most people brought diapers or some simple gift for her like an outfit or blanket. We were planning to do the same thing for my third, but she was born right at the beginning of Covid so it had to be canceled. We will probably have a sip and see for this baby as well. We also have never found out the gender so it makes it easier for people to purchase gifts (if they want to give something other than diapers) once the baby is born.

I’m having one for my third. I didn’t have one for my second. My first and 2nd were 3 years apart, same gender and I had most of all I needed. This baby is 14 and 11 years apart and a boy so we have nothing. It’s also my husbands first so first and maybe only time his family gets to celebrate his new baby. I don’t think it’s wrong to have a little party most call it a sprinkle. You could also ask for gift cards for diapers I’ve seen that before. Then you can get the diapers as needed in the right size and you don’t have to store boxes and boxes of diapers
