Daughter boyfriend
My daughter is 16 and her boyfriend is 17. My husband and oldest daughter don't like him. They said he never speaks much to us and we went out for dinner last night and he was a bit rude. This was all over the food. My daughter's husband was paying. He was upset because there was nothing healthy there to it. They didn't even have salads. I was telling him to just enjoy himself and it's ok to eat unhealthy every once and a while. He got an attitude and refused to eat at first, then decided to eat and ate more than any of us. Then he went to the bathroom and didn't come back for 20 minutes a refused to talk to anyone and just put his head in his arms on the table. My husband told me we got home that he doesn't want our daughter dating a boy who treats her family like crap. It was a long conversation with caused a fight with our daughter who loves him and she ran to her room crying. Then I get a call from her boyfriend's mom and she apologized on his behalf. She said he's upset about how the whole night went and that he gets uncomfortable when it comes to food. Honestly I think this is a time where my daughter should make her own choices about her love life. Breaking then up won't do anything besides have her date him behind our back.
Edit: Idk her boyfriend well but he's never in my opinion done anything the makes him seem like an overall bad person. Just things my husband and oldest daughter don't like. To me he comes off more socially awkward than rude. Idk if he struggles with disordered eating since his mom said food makes him uncomfortable. I'll try to get to know him more but like I said. He seems very socially awkward.
@E yeah I definitely think my husband and my oldest are holding too high of expectations on him. Like I said he just seems socially awkward and he treats our daughter well. Maybe we could get to know him more in a smaller setting.
