Curious, naming tradition?

So my husband’s Irish, we live in Ireland but I’m from Argentina. In my country people basically announce their baby’s name as soon as they announce gender (maybe as a way of “claiming” the name in case friends/relatives are thinking of using it). Here in Ireland they only announce (and sometimes even decide) when baby’s born which I thought was crazy. What’s usual in your country/ what would you do?

In the USA it’s such a mix, I prefer waiting til birth because then people don’t weigh in and say rude things about the name

Where I live people announce their baby’s name even before they find out the gender. They’ll say “if it’s a girl she will be named…..   and if it’s a boy he will be named……”.      It’s also common wait to announce when they find out the gender. The only people I know who waited til birth are those who didn’t find out gender and even kept the names a secret or ones who had absolutely no idea what they were going to name their baby until after they had them. 
That being said, do what you want, but definitely decide that with your guy because it’s really only important to the two of you.

We told our family and close friends the name but didn’t make it “public” until after she was born.

With my first born we had two names picked one for boy one for girl. This time I’m finding it much harder to pick a name. But I do like to let family know what we are thinking in regards to the name. I say it’s your choice.

We did whatever we wanted to do. Most people we know of announce after the baby is born but my husband and I already decided on our name by 12 weeks so we shared it

We don’t even seriously start talking about name options until after we know the gender lol Last time we (well mostly I) didn’t want to commit to a name until I saw her in real life, we had two options and picked one while we were still in the recovery room after my c-section.

We announce only to family and dgaf what they think. 
My mother in law didn't like the middle name of my third child because her first name ended with an A and her middle begins and ends with an A. 
There will always someone with an opinion.
So knowing this its up to you.

I live in the US. We don't find out the gender until birth (because it's fun) so can't announce a name until then.
