Pap during pregnancy?

I’m due for a papsmear and my OB wants to do it at my next appointment. I hate them as is but I’m dreading it while pregnant. I’m thinking about just skipping it. What would you do?

I got mine done at my first ob appointment. I was years overdue. Wasn't any different than not being pregnant. Super quick and I didn't have any issues. I knew someone who found out they had cancer while pregnant so I believe it's important to get it. But you can decline if you want

I just got my pap done at my 8 week appointment. They suck but for me it only hurts for a minute and then it’s over. Better to just do it than risk finding out too late you have cervical cancer.

Just had mine yesterday along with a breast examine! It was quick! I’m 10 weeks and 4 days oh and got to hear the heartbeat 🤗

Had mine first appointment it actually hurt less and the pa said it's because they don't go far into the cervix when your pregnant that they go easier on you.

Usually when you go for. your first OB visit when pregnant they perform one. Might be protocol

I chose to wait and they did mine 6 pp with my daughter. I think it’s more of a personal choice. I just had one and ended up starting my period early and my daughter was my 8th pregnancy and I just wanted to do what I felt was best to protect myself from another miscarriage.

I was wondering this as well. I had a normal pap done in June of 2021, but got a letter stating I was due for one again (they prefer every year vs. every 3). I never had a pap done during my first pregnancy and would have been due for one. I hate them as I have pelvic floor dysfunction and they are painful for me, so really hoping they let me wait till next year!

I would just get it done they’re gonna do a transvaginal ultrasound anyway & the pap is quick . I had mine done at 10 weeks 3 days with no problems. But it’s totally your choice and go with your gut!

Thankfully I had one June 2021 so I don’t need one now but if I did I would skip it.

My ob did just the STD swab since my last pap was exactly a year to the day and was normal
