This guy and I have been talking on and off for a little while now. I’m not looking for a relationship and he knows that. He’s between jobs right now and just feels like his life is a mess. We talked the other day and just randomly said I need to get my life in order first. I was caught off guard cause I thought we were in the same page and It was a random thing to bring up. Thoughts?

He’s being open and honest with you. He may distance himself to create a safe space for himself to think without distractions such as a relationship. He’s still gonna want to be friends with you, so by that point he’s just giving you a heads up in case he goes MIA for a while. Life happens. 🤷🏼‍♀️

He probably means it. I'm in the same position as him. Right now I have to look out for myself. I'm in between jobs and I''m starting a healthcare program in the fall. As selfish as it sounds, I have no time to worry about anybody else. I have to focus on myself and my future before I can worry about a relationship.
