Self tanner while pregnant?

From my research it is safe as it only absorbs into the top layer of skin and obviously doesn’t get in your blood stream. Spray tans are also safe (most recommend waiting until 2nd trimester) but it’s better to do it in an open ventilation type room vs one of those booths as breathing it in can be what is harmful.

I searched around for this info as well. The best I could come up with is that self tan is generally safe as long as it’s not a spray tan.  There are concerns with breathing in one of the ingredients with spray tan, but the self tanners that you apply directly to the skin seem ok.  I bought a St. Tropez self tanner but haven’t applied it yet.  I plan to only use it one time before we go on vacation.
