Advice on how to tell your child?

My daughter is only 3 but has a really good understanding, and I like to include her in everything. So I told her when we found out I was pregnant - I’ve today however found out I’m miscarrying at almost 7 weeks, and I’m wondering if anyone has experience of explaining this in a toddler friendly way?

So I’m Christian and I told my kids last sept when I had a Mc at 5 weeks that baby went to be with Jesus. It was very sad for them but they understand.

I had told my 6 4 and 2 year olds that I was pregnant and then I had a miscarriage. I had told them that the baby had stopped growing and left my tummy and that was pretty much it. They of course were sad and have asked me questions about it but I always let them ask what they want and reassure them that it's ok to be sad and miss them.

I had a miscarriage when my son was 5. He saw me crying and was really concerned about me. So I told him “mommy had a baby in her belly but it just wasn’t the right time yet so the baby went back to heaven” 
It was a gentle way of explaining it and he reciprocated well.

We just said that some babies don't make it and that it's ok to be sad. We told him that it was pretty common but it still stinks and we are sad. We didn't hide our grief although we aren't big cryers. He's 5 now and seems to understand what happened. He's got a little rainbow baby brother now and I'm pregnant with our 3rd.
