Being sensitive or landlord inconsiderate?

We live on a dwelling with our landlord and they have decided to do some work on our side of the property. It's not necessary work, it's not repairs or maintenance or anything. They're literally just building like a covering over one part of the garden for some reason.
However, my husband and I are sick with COVID and my landlord knows this. Despite this, they have gone ahead with the work which includes grinding and drilling and digging and us having to make arrangements with our dogs and all sorts.
Maybe I'm just salty because I'm sick, but I feel considering it's not necessary work, it really could have waited until my husband and I were not sick as dogs. Or am I right that they're being inconsiderate?
Perhaps I should have added (although I thought it was obvious) that we are paying rent and there are certain laws pertaining to tenants and considerations and such. Over and above that, I just thought it was the decent thing to do. The landlords are pensioners so it's not like they have to plan around work or anything (not something I mentioned because I thought there was such a thing has human decency). Apparently I'm wrong.

It's their home. Maybe this is the best time for THEM to do the work. Why should they cater to the best time for you?

I clearly am in the minority here but if it wasn't an emergency and it could be rescheduled, it should have been. Even if it is their property, when you are sharing a home with people then a little kindness goes a long way. If you weren't paying rent then I'd also be like, sure let them do what they want, but in my country the laws specifically state that any work that needs to be done in a space occupied by a tenant needs to be done when it's convenient for the tenant, unless when in the case of emergencies.

Tenants rights don’t have anything to do with annoying noises. Sorry you’re sick, but this really isn’t an issue unless they’re doing it outside the city noise ordinance times. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Where I am there are usually long waits for that kind of work to be done. So maybe they couldn’t just reschedule. They also would’ve had to give pretty sudden notice since Covid wasn’t planned and I’m sure some companies charge a fee for a sudden cancellation/reschedule like that. Sure it sucks to have that going on when you’re sick but I wouldn’t consider it insensitive of them.

Look up your landlord/tenet laws as it varies. But where I'm from as long as they give you 24 hours notice they can do as they please. Did they start the project before you got sick? Did they hire someone to do the work? Is the equipment theirs or is it rented? If it's rented is it from a local hardware store or a legit company? While I think it would be nice for them to pause the renovations because you are sick and it's not a necessary repair there are other factors at play that you may not be aware of. If they are renting equipment they may need to have it back at a certain time. Pausing the project will lead them to having to pay for the products again to finish. If they are paying someone to help the person may be booked later and again they will need to pay more down the road for help to come back. Did you ask them of they could pause the project until you're well enough again?
