“The Day We Met” pt. 28
Andy’s heart was not on tour. It was in a little suburban town with Ally. Andy pleaded with Luke & Tim to end the tour early. There was no way they’d end early. They weren’t even close. Andy just had to make do with being away from Ally. He called as often as he could & stayed busy to keep his mind off of her. He did wear Ally’s necklace & never took it off. It made him feel close to her.
Ally & John talked all night. Marie had to stay over to get the kids ready for bed. Marie fell asleep in Sage’s bed. She woke up to the sound of the stairs creaking. She tiptoed out to the hall to see who it was. It was John. John stopped & looked up at Marie.
John: I’m sorry I couldn’t love your daughter the way she needed to be loved. I’ll be over at my parents until the divorce is final. You have my number if you need anything.
Marie just nodded. John was out the door & out of their lives just like that. Marie didn’t even feel bad. Memories of her own divorce flooded her mind. She knew that this was a good move for both John & her daughter, Ally. Ally would be so much happier without John. Marie walked over to Ally’s room to check on her.
Marie: Ally, honey?
Marie slowly pushed open Ally’s door. Ally was seated in an easy chair by the window. She was holding a cup of coffee & blankly staring out the window.
Marie: How are you feeling, hon’?
Ally: It’s not what I wanted. No one goes into a marriage thinking they’ll end up in divorce. I know it’s the right move, mama, but why do I feel horrible.
Marie: Because you’re letting a dream die.
Ally fell into her mother’s arms with tears in her eyes.
Marie: I’ve been there before, baby. I promise you, it’ll get easier. You’ll be happy again. Just you wait…
Marie stroked Ally’s hair to comfort her & just held her until she calmed down.
Ally: I loved him, mom.
Marie: I know you did, baby. You’ll love again. I promise. And better yet someone out there will love you.
