How to test Hcg ?

Lots of people are sharing their Hcg numbers... im just wondering how they knows! Is there a test I'm unfamiliar with?

Answer

A lot of women on here have a history of loss or are higher risk which comes with closer monitoring of HCG numbers. If that's not your situation, I think early HCG monitoring just adds unnecessary stress. My first pregnancy the office did super early appts for whatever reason, like at 5 weeks, and they made me all stressed out about the possibility of miscarriage because my numbers were "low" for 5 weeks but they doubled just fine at the follow up and she's almost four now. 
I'm 11 weeks pregnant with my third and couldn't even tell you what my numbers were. I think they just tested once as a formality at my first appt but pregnancy was mainly confirmed via the dating scan at that appt.
