Orange at 3 months old?

Question

A friend of mine is giving his baby orange slices at 3 months old to start feeding them fruit. Is this okay?

Absolutely NOT!!!! That’s a dangerous choking hazard and too acidic for babies. Let alone a 3m old is still a newborn. 
No solids at all until 6m old. You need to speak up and say that it’s a serious choking hazard.

I mean, if it's just to suck on the slice for the juice and if it doesn't upset babies belly I don't see why it's an issue. I personally wouldn't do that but I have put liquid stuff like ice cream on my finger and let my son try it before he was 6 months before 
If it isn't damaging the babies health I don't see how her children are any of your business..everyone thinks they're a perfect mom until they have their own kids

Each to their own, make choices for your own child and don’t judge others. I personally think 3 months is very young and If it’s directly putting the child at risk then obviously it’s a concern but this post isn’t clear about surrounding circumstances. 
Have they consulted a paediatrician? Have they seen signs of readiness? Are they shoving a whole slice In their mouth? Just sucking the juices? Just putting tiny little pieces that are squashed? 
I started to wean my daughter at 4 months following advice from a doctor because of her colic. Would I listen to someone’s advice who’s not a doctor… no. Would I care about their opinion… no. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone will give it regardless of knowing the full situation or not. Maybe ask her why she’s trying it so early? Or if she ha spoken to a doctor first.

The only source of “food” a baby needs until 12 months is milk. Giving solids after 6 months is just for practice and fun. I can’t speak for her but I wouldn’t do it.  Either way each parent does whatever they think works best for themselves 🤷🏻‍♀️

No it’s not ok. Baby is born with an open digestive tract. Until it closes baby is at risk of severe infection or allergy. This is why we don’t feed solids until 6 months when most babies guts are closed system like adults.

Well. I woluld not go saying to her not to do things, but. No, orange is sweet, and should notbe given much anyway, and at three months baby is for sure not ready to eat anything besides milk also. You should wait until at least six months.
