Would I be okay to take a shower and freshen up after my water breaks?

Say my water breaks in the middle of the night, would I be okay to take a shower and freshen up a bit or would I have to rush to the hospital immediately? It’s about a 30-45 min drive to my hospital. But I also don’t want to go to the hospital not feeling clean and bathed…

It depends if your contractions start straight away, if not I'm guessing a quick shower wouldn't hurt, but if you getting contractions I wouldn't wait I'd go straight to hospital.

Depends on how far apart contractions are. If they’re coming regularly at 3-4 mins apart I’d just go right away. You’ll get messy during labour and you can shower after. You could also do a nightly shower before bed just in case, that way you’ll be fresh anyways 🙂

There’s no point. It’s never just one gush! There’s so much water in there! 
Mine started breaking while in the shower. I had 3-4 big gushes and leaking in between. My pants were soaked again by time I got to the hospital! Lol

My water broke at my 40week appointment 😂 my doctor literally told me to go home, take a shower, and labor at home as long as I feel comfortable. So I did!

like the other person said you’ll get messy during labor. but if you take just a quick wash up i don’t see a problem. just dont take 30 min shower

Well, you do you.
You'll easily be able to make the decision when time comes. If water breaks and you feel some contractions, sure take a quick shower before you go.
But water might not even break until very, very late and you're just breathing between contractions....... And then I'm fairly sure you would also rather skip the shower and just go immediately 😅

My water broke almost 24 hours before I gave birth. I had no contractions and was induced 5 hours after after it broke, so in that scenario you’d have plenty of time to shower lol. Just pay attention to the contractions.

My water broke at 9am in the morning and I didn’t gush all at once. I lived 15miles from the hospital and my water continued to trickle for a while. My labor was 10 hours All natural and first pregnancy.

I took a shower with my first, laboring with wet hair was annoying af! Also, I live about 5 min from our hospital. My second came within just moments of my water breaking. So no shower, or hospital even for that matter. Do what your comfortable with. It could be a long labour and therefore showering feels great, or it could be super quick! And you can clean after.
