Stopping PIO and estrogen?

Question

I’m 10 weeks today and my doc said I’m good to stop both the PIO shots and my twice daily estrogen. I’m so so nervous to stop. I really wanted to take until 12 weeks. this is the farthest I’ve ever made it in a pregnancy but it is also my first IVF transfer. I know it’s a different pregnancy and that I should trust my doctor but I was wondering if anyone took for longer?

The research is pretty clear that neither is necessary after 8 weeks. In fact, there's a study showing that taking estrogen longer has worse outcomes (relatively low sample size though). Progesterone doesn't hurt so Dr usually doesn't mind of you want to take it longer for peace of mind. 
By 10 weeks your placenta should have well and truly taken over hormone production. If it hasn't, there's bigger problems that taking supplements won't fix regardless. 
In other words, you'll be fine. Your body and baby got this sorted.

I feel like ten weeks is standard, but you have to remember it’s YOUR body and YOUR baby. If you are uncomfortable with ubruptly stopping maybe talk to him about tapering off to be off by 12 weeks. Hope that helps. My dr was fine with me tapering off because I had same concern

That’s normal! I was nervous too so I actually did a few days of lower doses to wean myself off, although I’m sure that wasn’t necessary 😄

I stopped estrogen at 10 weeks and continued progesterone some more but my Dr said it wasn’t necessary but couldnt hurt. Im sure if you feel more comfortable going till 12w they’d understand and allow it.
