Fertility clinic screwed up!
So we are doing our first FET this month - yay!
We have 12 little AA embryos and today at our CD2 appointment, I asked the doctor how we choose which one to transfer. She goes, “oh you mean which two?” I said, “no we definitely only want to transfer one.” She said, “well all your embryos are being stored in pairs.. so if we thaw one out we have to thaw them both out and then the other one my not survive the refreeze.” Then she added, “well you should transfer two because it gives you a better chance, it’s only a 30% chance that they’ll both implant, that’s how we normally do it here.”
Well I texted my friend who is also getting her FET soon at the same clinic, and she said hers were all frozen individually, so that is NOT how they normally do it at this clinic.
Why did they freeze ours in pairs? We never once indicated that we wanted to transfer two at the same time!!! They 100% screwed up!
Now I’m completely devastated. I thought we had 12 chances, and now we might just have 6. Unless we decide to transfer two but the risk of twins really terrifies me. All those extra risks on top of me already being 39/40 when I give birth, which already qualifies me as a high risk pregnancy.
6 chances might still sound like a lot but what happens if my first and second transfers are unsuccessful, and so on. I don’t know what to do.
