Where does the myth come from that men who abuse women or mistreat them will care if their daughters go through the same thing?

Personally, I don't think having a daughter changes men who like to hurt women in any way. I don't think they care if their daughters were harmed either. I don't know maybe some do but I think it's a myth because they don't love or care about women in the first place.
