Colostrum before baby arrives?

Is it okay to pump and collect colostrum before the baby is here?
I read to do it once a day for 10 minutes around 36-37 weeks?

Not sure where you are - but here in the UK it is recommended that you can begin colostrum harvesting (by hand expression) from 36 weeks of pregnancy. Using an electric or manual pump can supposedly induce labour due to the oxytocin release (at a greater volume than with hand expression). 
Before I knew this, I used an electric pump with my first pregnancy. I had begun at 36 weeks, and gave birth spontaneously at 37+3. Not sure if it is related at all, but I’ve definitely been more mindful this time around!

Only after 37 weeks and hand express and collect with colostrum syringes, don't pump. Nipple stimulation could possibly induce labor but it doesn't always. Definitely inform your OB before you start so that your Dr is aware and prepared, just in case.

You should ask your OB just incase you have any risks but it's generally safe after 37 weeks because your considered full term.
