Doctor partially ripped out my piercing by accident at my first ultrasound.

Visceral Mercenary • May you find your worth in the waking world.

Good news is the baby has a good heartbeat and since I'm the mom to a 5 y/o boy, 3 y/o boy with special needs, and a 2 y/o boy, I was thrilled to learn it's only one baby 😅

As the midwife was wiping the gel off my belly, she snagged my microdermal. Hurt like hell but I generally don't gave a physical or audible reaction to pain that isn't unbearable so she didn't even notice I was in pain. Now, I've had these microdermals for 12 years now. I've snagged them a few times here and there so I didn't think anything about it. Didn't even inspect it.

I didn't even realize myself that she'd snatched it half out until I made the hour drive home and stopped in to do some paperwork for my 3 y/o's therapy.

This is what it is supposed to look like (this is the left one that didn't get snatched out):

This is how it looked once I noticed what happened:

The piercing shop that placed them 12 years ago is closed and there isn't another shop for an hour away. So I ended up spending an hour in front of the TV yanking and twisting it until I finally got the rest of it out. So now I just have one and I feel like it looks super dumb:

I'm honestly kind of sad about it. They were a part of my body for almost half of my life (I'm 28.) My sister had some too but they came out during her first pregnancy. Mine lasted for all three of my pregnancies without issue. I'm definitely not driving over an hour to have it redone after my baby is born. I'm super bummed. And I have my official dating scan on Thursday so now I'm kind of nervous the other one is gonna get ripped out too 😅
