Finally able to start trying!!! Almost

Rinna

Last September my husband and I finally decided we were ready to have a kid. So I had my IUD removed... but 3 months later and Im still not having a period. Keep in mind, I had not had a cycle in over 8 years bc of my IUD.

So at the three month mark, I had an HSG done to see if my tubes were open, one was blocked and I possibly had something called Asherman's syndrome which is very dangerous for a fetus so you don't want to get pregnant if you have this before getting it checked via lapex surgery.

After the HSG, I bled for 4 straight months!! I didn't want to take a BC pill because when I tried them before my IUD 13 years ago, I was either a raging b*tch or was constantly crying. I hate crying. So I finally gave up and got a BC pill that was the same medications as my IUD and for the entire 3 weeks I took it, I bled even worse, had HUGE chunks of clotty crap and had HORRIFIC cramps. Like as bad as when I have cysts. Yay. -_-

So I stopped the BC and then the bleeding finally stopped a week later. 3 weeks later I had my first period in almost a decade! Yay! But I still ended up having the surgery 2 weeks after that because of the potential for Ashermans and Endometriosis runs in my family. Turns out I had stage 2 Endometriosis but no Ashermans. Phew.

A week later I had another period! Yay!! So I am FINALLY having a consistent cycle for the first time in about a decade. Lol Woohoo!

Unfortunately during my surgery they removed my appendix and found a tumor (low grade, but still really rare) so now I have to go to the oncologist next week just to be sure everything is ok/get further testing... so unfortunately TTC has to wait until my July cycle.

But the moral of the story is, YOU CAN DO THIS!! And if your cycle doesn't return at any point during your conception journey, talk to your OB!! Try BC as dumb as that sounds. But BC helps regulate/restart your cycle. It works in various ways. If you are TTC, be PROACTIV!! None of this stuff for me would have been done this quickly if I was not proactively asking "what can we do? Are there tests that can be done? How can we get my cycle regular?". Normally they tell you to wait 12 months of TTC, but if you aren't having a cycle, you aren't actually TTC!! Be proactive about your health and cycle. If your doctor doesn't take kindly to that, then find one that will. They are out there!!
