My mil said my breast milk can burn my baby if I leave my nipple near him. (Example) last night he was eating and he fell asleep and put his head back my nipple was on his cheek for a few mins and my mil said. Oh you don’t know your breast milk can burn him if you leave it on? I was like no🤨 anyways I’m thinking she means irritation ?? But it’s not like I was just gonna leave it there for hours.

It can cause a milk rash if its left on and hasnt been dried which would create a burning sensation for the baby but it wont actually burn them like a chemical burn

But if it is constantly leaving an area wet (creases in their neck) it can definitely cause irritation and an infection.

Don’t women squirt breast milk into their babies eyes if they are irritated? I have heard this recommended too many times on here to count them. Your baby is fine. Your breast milk won’t hurt your baby.

This is probably one of the strangest misconceptions I’ve heard of breastmilk lol. This is entirely false, breastmilk is filled with so many incredible nutrients and healing properties. I have no idea where your MIL got this from but even my son’s pediatrician recommended squirting some in his eye when he had an infection and it worked like a charm. It’s one of the best healing remedies in the world for your baby on so many different levels.
