vaseline for dry skin?

could i use vaseline on my babies head and face for cradle cap/dry skin? ive been using coconut oil which was recommended by his doctor but someone on GLOW said that it breaks the skins natural barrier down and could give him a rash. would it be safe to use a thin layer of vaseline?

Tbh blk ppl often use vaseline on our skin and baby skin. For the cradle cap we have always used olive oil in a glass bottle.

My baby's cradle cap didn't clear up until we got prescription shampoo from his dr. We tried what seemed like everything and just nothing worked. If it doesn't clear up, I'd say worth a mention at your next check up

Petroleum jelly works well. Aquaphor is the name brand I believe. My kid didn't have the jelly solve the issue though. The skin looked very greasy after applying it which I didn't like so I didn't always use it. What actually worked to completely solve the issue was time and gently scraping the oil off and using baby shampoo. My kid kind of just outgrew the issue and between washing her hair more often, waiting it out and using the jelly sometimes us what solved the issue. 
I've heard dandruff shampoo like Selsun blue works too but I was very nervous about putting that on my baby.

I tried Vaseline on my baby for her cradle cap, I found it made a big sticky mess. She was born with a full head of hair and the Vaseline was stuck in her hair even after multiple washing with shampoo. I started with the coconut oil but it wasn't working for her. I ordered Burt's bees apricot oil, it worked wonderfully and it smells nice too. I'd say test the waters and see what works for your baby.
