Well we finally have our plan. Last week at 6+6 could only saw possible sac. Hcg levels high, almost 40,000 and rising slowly. Went back this week at 7+6 for repeat ultrasound and still no sign of embryo in any way. There are no way my dates are off (super regular, used opks, and had early positive pregnancy test several days before my missed period). Ultrasound is not showing anything anywhere else, but because of how high my hcg is we should expect to see an embryo somewhere. My OB team is concerned for a hidden ectopic pregnancy or blighted ovum, but there is no way to know for sure which one based on my ultrasound or numbers. I also have absolutely no symptoms whatsoever. No pain or cramps or bleeding. I will go in Friday for D&C and if no pregnancy tissue is in my uterus during the procedure they will do a laparoscopy to find the source. They are worried my hcg levels are too high for methotrexate if there is an ectopic hiding somewhere, and worry if I take a wait and see approach an ectopic could rupture and be life-threatening.

I’m happy to finally have a plan and get closure, and I’m also happy to not have to take methotrexate and be sidelined from ttc 3 months afterward. BUT I had no idea this was all even possible! Is it just me or does this seem rare?
