What was really your first sign of labor?

I know what everyone says: 
1. Contractions 
2. Mucus plug
3. Water breaking 
But what signs or symptoms did you have that labor was starting before those things happened? 
I’m 38+3 with my second baby. With my first child, I never felt contractions or labor pains because I got induced and immediately got the epidural. This time around I’m trying to let my body begin labor naturally. 
Currently my belly feels sore. Not my lower abdomen feeling like period cramps, but like my belly in general, all over, feels sore and achy. 
Also, I was extremely nauseous last night, as well as having heartburn, a headache, and just general body pains that made it impossible to get comfortable for sleep. 
Are these possible early signs of labor? 
What were your early signs?

My first, I had back pain a few hours before my water broke. Second, water just randomly broke. Third, water broke 12 hours after a sweep.

I was in the same boat, with my first I was also induced and had no idea what to expect with my second. At 38 weeks I asked for a sweep and lost my mucus plug for most of the week after. At 38+5 I felt a little bit more wetness than normal and thought maybe it was just extra discharge (turns out that was most likely my water breaking). Then 2 days later, at 39 weeks, I woke up to some intense pains, like incredibly bad period pains every couple minutes. 4.5 hours later my baby was born.

Nothing really . My water broke 4 days after I lost my plug but I never felt contractions or pain. Only thing is I slept terribly the night before my water broke .

I woke up with diarrhea and realized with time I also had real contractions. Everything before that was just the same usual third trimester stuff and being uncomfortable 🤷🏻‍♀️

My bloody show was at 8am. Right around noon just before labor started I felt intensely nauseous.

I didn't have any symptoms at all. I was overdue with zero symptoms. I went to bed one night and woke up to contractions in labor.

I felt my belly hard more than usual, and went down, urge to poop (the felling) but nothing came. Than the contractions started light. No water break, no mucus plug!

Lost my mucus plug and went into preterm labor. The day before actual labor(they stopped it at 32 weeks) I had EXTREME pressure in my vagina. Like she was straight up gonna fall out.
