I used to believe in unconditional love - towards parents and their children. That the love you have with a chosen one is “conditional” - meaning if they abused you, cheated on you, were abusive, you would leave and try to heal.. you might still feel towards them, but love will slowly fade away. With your children, however, that doesn’t fade right?

BUT, someone posed the question, what if one of your children killed another? Or what if your child was a horrible racist.. what if your child was a JOFFRY (if you have seen GOT, you understand the reference) or if you were the parents of a Karla Homolka or Chris Watts would you still “love” your child? Yes, I would question my parenting, and circle around how and what I did to raise such a human… but could I LOVE the evil that that human - my human - possess? Curious of your thoughts? I want to say yes - I would still love them, but I am conflicted.. and it has made me question “unconditional” love.
