Almost 7 months ago, I was given methotrexate to treat an ectopic pregnancy. The symptoms that immediately followed were the worst. This included hot flashes, severe joint pain, vertigo and my period stopped. The hot flashes, joint pain and vertigo subsided after 3 months. It took 4 months for period to return. Last week, went to doctor and my hormone levels for FSH, LH and estradiol were post menopausal levels. For example, my estradiol was less than 5. I am horrified, because less than a year ago all of my levels were normal. Has anyone else had this happen? My gut instinct is that the methotrexate triggered menopause. However, the internet is filled with articles that says single dose methotrexate does not affect ovarian reserve/fertility.
