What should I do?

My boyfriends grandma passed away this morning and he’s been a little off. How do I be there for him? What can I say that will comfort or help him? I’ve never been in this position before. I was telling him that I am sorry and I love you

Just be honest with him about you not knowing what to say or do but are willing to try whatever he needs right now. It's different for everyone and for every passing so it's VERY hard to give you any useful advice other than just let him lead

Don't be too all over him and don't just keep saying you're sorry and you love him. 
Something to say is "I don't know what I can do to help you. I'm here if you need me. Do you want me to let you have some time alone or would you like me to sit with you for a while?"
Whatever he says do what he needs. Occasionally ask him if he needs anything from you, a snack? A drink? A hug? Some space?
If he needs quite and space don't take offense. Just do that for him. 
Give him time through the next few days and after the funeral to process. Be patient if he's moody because he's just lots someone. 
If you all have a favorite food maybe order something special for dinner and ask if he'd like to watch your all's favorite show or something. If he says no it's okay. Just say "that's okay".
