Terbutaline???
Yesterday I didn’t feel Skylar moving around as much as normal and I called my doctor’s after hour line and spoke with the other doctor in the same clinic. I live an hour away from there (my local hospital is awful and I did NOT want to deliver there)
The other doctor told me he was sure everything is fine but I should go to my local hospital and get checked just so I wasn’t up all night worrying. I go and they found her heartbeat asap and put a monitor on me to check for contractions. The nurse said I was having contractions and the on-call doctor told her to give me 2 doses of Terbutaline to stop them. I was there for over 5 hours and the doctor never came in there at all. I read the side effects of Terbutaline and “since 2011 the FDA has advised that injectable terbutaline should only be used in urgent situations.”
Also, “This drug should be used during pregnancy only if the benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus.” and “Terbutaline is associated with increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders.”
I called my doctor today and left a message with his nurse telling her about last night. My next appt is Thursday and now they want me to come in tomorrow instead of Thursday and will hook me up to a monitor 😢 I’m so worried now. They said it was very weird that they gave me this medicine without calling my doctor first, and also very weird that the doctor never came in to check on me.
